SMART SHADES

I had a problem with my shades and to fix it, I decided to make them smart so that I can control them using my phone. For that I got a DC motor with a gearbox to have a better torque. After that I got a long metal rod to put both of shades on it and connect them to the motor. To control them, I used a microprocessor called ESP8266 and Blynk app. On the video below you can see how my shades respond to my phone. I also added physical buttons to control the shades in case my phone runs out of battery.

This project was the first thing I made related with Internet of Things and other projects will follow it as well!

At the end of the page I am attaching my code that I used for ESP8266.

The hardware and software I used:

  • Arduino IDE

  • C++

  • ESP8266

  • Blynk App

  • Motor Driver (L298N)

  • Push buttons
